Peyton's second birthday party

Peyton recently turned 2 and we had her party at our favorite park!  We weren't prepared for the 50mph winds that day!  It was so windy, we couldn't put up half the decorations we made/bought!
We had to tie up the balloons instead of having them as the centerpiece at each table.  The kids didn't mind!

These cookie party favors were supposed to be stuck in the buckets of sand.  That didn't work since the sand was pelting all of us.

These oreo pops were supposed to be stuck in cute styrofoam that we decorated.  They kept blowing over.

My mom spend a long time working on decorations, down to the water bottles!

Playground time!
The inside of the cake was rainbow!
It's almost impossible to get a bunch of party kids to look at the camera at the same time!

Thank you to all of our friends who came and endured the wind for Peyton's party!

Free Love Photoshoot

We were so excited to work with Jonathan Ivy Photography on an awesome photo shoot with a "Free Love" theme. Packed with dreamcatchers, a VW bus, vintage furniture and lots of grass & sunshine...who wouldn't love to get lost in these photos with SO much character? Since this stuff will probably show up in all of the bridal magazines soon, we can't show you too many pics, but here are some of our faves!

Party Theme: Honey Bee

Another party theme that can be used for almost any occasion: Honey Bee! I found beautiful party pics from weddings, housewarming parties, kids' birthday parties, and of course baby showers. You can make this theme as cute or classy as you want. Either put the emphasis on the squiggly lines of a smiling bee or the graphic blocks of the bee hive. Bee a little corny with the puns, or let the images speak for themselves. It's up to you...bee yourself! (What movie?)

Dessert Tables

Dessert tables are nothing new, but they have become more and more elaborate thanks to Amy Atlas and her over the top, perfect, beautifully delicious creations. The growing popularity of DIY party planning adds to the craziness that is the dessert table. The smorgasbord of desserts is accompanied by food labels, banners, fabric and textiles that bring the theme and color scheme of the party together in one place. Here are some dessert tables to inspire you for your next party, and there's a link at the bottom to some DIY dessert table tips. Enjoy!

Cake Stands

A cake without a stand is like a picture without a frame. But you have to choose the perfect stand for each cake. A simple cake could use a flashy stand to make it look complete, and an intricate cake might look best on a simple stand. There are tons of DIY cake stands out there, so you can customize your stand for each cake without breaking the bank. Or you could splurge on one to display in your kitchen when it's not in use. And finally, you can search thrift stores for an old vintage look. Here is a variety of beautiful, unique cake stands, just begging for cakes to display.

Party Theme: Milk & Cookies

Milk & Cookies. It's a perfect match, which makes it perfect as a party theme for almost any occasion. It's so sweet and innocent, so it's obviously perfect for baby showers and kids' parties. But it's also such a symbol of the perfect pair, it would work well for an engagement party, bridal shower or a quirky adult birthday party. Who wouldn't want to be a part of one of these yummy celebrations?
