Gold, Not Gaudy

Golden cakes could easily come across as over-the-top and extravagant (maybe not a bad thing on the biggest day of your life!), BUT there are ways to make gold not gaudy. Pair it with soft colors like pink or mint, and use flowers or textured buttercream to keep it from looking too formal. Any kind of scroll-work, detailed designs or over-decoration in gold could cross the line into Italian Mob Wife territory. But if you're into that kind of thing, fuggedaboutit!

Braided Beauties

Braids are back. And what is in fashion can always be made in cake-form. Whether you're a tiny, subtle braid girl, or a messy side braid bride, your cake can be made to match. We're working on a braided cake this week, so we found these pics for inspiration. Look for our braided beauty on our facebook page or in our gallery next week!
